Bill Beattie is the Managing Director of Keiter Stephens Advisors.  Over the past 12 years Bill has assisted the owners of over 100 foodservice distribution companies across 30 states on a wide range of initiatives. He has extensive experience with family owned and closely held businesses and works only in the foodservice distribution industry.

In mergers and acquisitions, Bill has represented both buyers and sellers. He works with their accounting and law firms to coordinate all aspects of the transaction including valuation, due diligence, the negotiation and agreement structure process and consistently achieves favorable results for his clients. He has closed twenty foodservice distribution and meat company transactions in the past five years.  During this period, Bill has developed positive working relationships with active acquirers across the country.

Bill has presented in numerous industry forums, including national meetings for IFDA and the Pocahontas and All Kitchens owners groups.  He has contributed to the ID Report and has authored numerous other articles including “Realizing the Value of Your Business”, “Raising the Bar on Customer Profitability” and “The 3–1–1 Planning Approach”.

His foodservice distribution expertise is backed by three decades of management and operations experience.   He has worked across a range of industries guiding organizations in developing and sustaining profitable growth and successfully managing change.  He has a proven track record as a business owner, senior executive in both public- and privately-held companies and in redirecting underperforming operations and executing targeted growth strategies.

Carroll Hurst is a founding partner of Keiter and a Director of Keiter Stephens Advisors. For more than 30 years, Carroll has provided audit, tax, and consulting services to privately-owned business organizations, estates, trusts, and foundations.

Carroll represents numerous closely-held businesses in the foodservice distribution, manufacturing, construction, retail, wholesale, and service industries, as well as private equity and venture capital funds. Many of these businesses are second and third generation family owned and operated businesses.

Carroll’s services in the mergers and acquisitions area include valuation, interaction with other investment banking firms and law firms during all stages of negotiations, structuring transactions, tax planning and modeling of after-tax cash flows from various transaction structures, due diligence assistance, and negotiation of various terms of the transaction.

Carroll also regularly assists clients with debt and equity capital raising instruments. These services include valuation assistance in the structuring of the entity and the terms of the debt or equity, the review of legal agreements related to these transactions, and negotiations of transaction terms on behalf of clients.

In the 2005-2013 surveys conducted by Virginia Business magazine, Carroll was named one of Virginia’s Super CPAs. He speaks regularly on mergers & acquisitions issues and business succession planning.

Matt brings a desire to help clients through strategic business changes and is passionate about creating new insights that help businesses operate better and financially prosper. He enjoys working with people, is fascinated about data and enjoys rolling up his sleeves in any capacity.

Matt began his career as an analyst with BB&T Capital Markets, focusing primarily on mergers & acquisitions. After BB&T Capital Markets, he worked with Virginia Capital Partners, LLC, a small Richmond based private equity firm where he focused on transactions in a variety of sectors including specialty consumer services, traditional media, wireless communications, specialty insurance, and healthcare. Most recently, Matt worked with NewMarket Corporation (NYSE: NEU), a leader globally in petroleum additives and specialty chemicals. While at NewMarket, he led the Analytics and Financial Planning & Analysis team for the business units, the supply team, the research & development team and the North & Latin America sales regions.

Matt spends his free time with his wife and twins, Maddie and Connor. He enjoys running, biking and sports of any variety.
